Sentosa Island isn’t just about the theme parks and beach clubs. If you want a relaxing getaway that allows you to retreat from the maddening crowd, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is the place to call home for a few days. You’ll appreciate the sweet sounds of flowing water coming from the tranquil koi pond in the front lobby. You’ll likely spend your mornings enjoying the large French and pan-Asian inspired breakfast buffet (psst, they do Champagne brunch on Sundays).
But there’s one thing that sets this Sofitel apart.
Peacocks and peahens (sometimes with cute baby chicks) frequently wander around the hotel grounds like they own the place.
Sentosa Island is known for its roaming peacocks, but Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is the one place we’ve seen them congregate in large numbers. It’s a curious thing, but it only adds to the charm of the resort. By the poolside, out on the breakfast terrace, right outside the guest room gardens… trust us: you’ll come to recognise the powerful call of a peacock very soon after you check into the resort.
The resort is a laid-back paradise with A+ hospitality
Birds aside, we personally enjoyed a number of highlights during our mid-2018 stay, including:
- Our Luxury Garden Room leading straight out to the manicured gardens (better access to the wandering peacocks!)
- Trees by the front lawn decadently strung with fairy-lights for a very Parisian nighttime effect
- The extraordinarily cheerful bartender we met at Le Bar, who took pride in preparing his elaborate cocktails
- The “calorie-conscious” restaurant located on the grounds the resort’s spa (where we also encountered more peacocks by the entrance)
- Direct access to the beach from behind The Cliff restaurant
- The selection at Kwee Zeen’s daily breakfast buffet piled high with plenty of pastries and a smorgasbord of local and international fare
Needless to say, we’d gladly stay here again.
